Oxygen System Borderlands Pre-Sequel Guide

The breathing system is very complex in this game. Although this sounds quite restrictive, in reality, you should have no problems with it. In situations, in which you run out of oxygen to breathe in, your health points start declining slowly. As soon as this happens, you should find a source for oxygen, because you die, as soon as your health level reaches zero. This system works, due to several factors:

  • Oz Kit - oxygen masks are an additional piece of equipment that you can replace at any moment throughout the game. You receive your first Oz Kit during your main mission. The amount of oxygen, that these can hold, is limited. The better masks (higher level or rare ones) hold more oxygen than the ones of a lower level. Thanks to the kit that you wear on your back, you can also take longer jumps, in exchange for some of the oxygen. Also, Oz Kits provide you with various bonuses to health or damage dealt. The better the mask, the higher the bonuses (ranging from regular, through white, to orange ones).
  • Oxygen stations - Oxygen stations are scattered all around the locations (they are not too common, but they are located near areas, where you are going to take more time, while fighting opponents). In the stations, you can replenish your oxygen supply and, while you are staying inside of them, your oxygen level does not drop. Oxygen stations have been marked on the maps as O2
  • Artificial atmosphere - (it is located in cities and locations, where report on your missions, receive missions and shop). In these locations, your oxygen level also does not drop, and it regenerates to the maximum level.
  • Natural oxygen stations (see: the screenshot) - there is quite a number of natural spots, where you can breathe oxygen, in each of the available locations. Also here, after you remove your mask, you regenerate your oxygen supplies, which you currently have on you. While staying around such spots, your current oxygen level does not drop. Natural oxygen stations have been marked with the icon of a square, on the maps.
  • Boosts - You can also replenish your oxygen with items, dropped by the opponents. These are additional oxygen points that you pick up automatically. You only need to walk by.
