Here's a bunch of tips that can be of some use to a beginner:

• Try not to use your Lucky Coins and Friendship Essences on everything you can think of, opening random places, drawing items indefinitely, etc. It's a good idea to save them until you get to know the game a little better, and unlock most of the mechanisms in the game.
• Use the crafting - it will allow you to create various equipment, raising the stats of your birds, as well as potions, which will save the butt of your birds more than once.
• Don't go spending your real money on the game - most of, if not all of the items in the game can be acquired without spending a single penny. The game constantly bothers you with various "limited sales", which are "one-time only", but there's really no point in buying that stuff, as in a few hours you will get them on your own, free of charge.
• Try to experiment with various birds and classes - not all, which at first sight appear as an useless one, turn out to be so useless in reality. Some of the classes need a little more time to understand them, and that they can really work.
• If you can't handle a specific scenario, or you are constantly on the verge of defeat, get back to the previously visited places - you can earn some in-game money that way, as well as the precious experience points.
• Try to end your fights rather quickly, without sustaining any major wounds - this way, you will end up with a bigger score, meaning that you will have more stars, allowing you to draw more items from the wheel of fortune. If your birds were hurt badly in a fight, try to heal them before the fight ends - you can cheat the game a little this way, and end up with a bigger score.
• Remember, that you can use the secondary ability of a bird on himself, tapping the bird once. If you hold your touch for a few seconds, a menu will be displayed, describing the given unit.
• Remember to use the Rage Chilli with care. Sure, it loads fairly quick, especially in the latter parts of the game, but the proper usage of this boost can be a deciding factor in a fight. Rage Chilli fills up whenever you attack or are attacked.
• Occasionally, a golden pig will appear randomly on the map - click on it, to enter a combat sequence. After defeating it, you will earn a rarer treasure.
