While exploring new rooms and halls in Amnesia: The Bunker, you will come across dog tags that contain four-digit codes. Obtaining them will allow you to open lockers, containing items that help you progress. Some of them are also needed to open specific doors, which are crucial for completing the game. On this page, we explain how the codes work and where they can be found.
Amnesia The Bunker: How do the codes work?
The back of the dog tag contains a four-digit code that can be used to unlock a padlock on the door. You don't have to learn it by heart; you can take a look at it again by going to the Menu and the Codes tab. You will notice that the code is assigned to a particular soldier's surname.
It is worth mentioning that the codes are generated randomly for each player. This means that there is no universal list of dog tag codes that would work for everyone. Unfortunately, you have to find the dog tag with the code first, and only then enter it in a proper place.
Amnesia The Bunker: Where to look for the codes?
Dog tags with codes are scattered throughout the entire bunker, so finding them all can be quite a challenge. Moreover, not all dog tags contain a code on their back side. Below you will find some tips on where to find them:
- Near the bodies of fallen soldiers - very often you can find a dog tag near corpses. If you come across a dead soldier, look closely to see if there isn't a dog tag lying on the ground next to him.
- On the soldiers' beds - in the Soldier Quarters, there are many soldiers' beds, who took shelter in the bunker. There you will also find a few dog tags.
- By groups of rats - if there are rats, it means there are dead soldiers' bodies in the area. Therefore, if you notice them, use torches to scare them away. You can also use grenades, molotovs or other, louder ways to get rid of them, but in that case, be prepared that the Beast may appear.
- In locked rooms - if a room is closed and entering it requires breaking down doors or accessing them through a ventilation shaft, there is a high chance that you will find a dog tag or other important items there, such as ammunition, notes, etc.
