Demon Tower - a minigame in Night in the Woods Night in the Woods Guide

Last update: 27 September 2017

Demon Tower is an arcade hack'n'slash game, in which you need to collect special keys and complete subsequent levels. The locations are randomly generated, only the essential rooms (e.g. those with the key) remain in the same place. If you die, you begin the level from the beginning, and its plan is randomized.

Every two levels, you'll encounter a green duck, which can tell you a fragment of the cipher. The cipher can be used on the skulls before the final boss battle, to unlock an alternative ending to Demon Tower. Note: if you kill the green duck even once, it will stop appearing, unless you restart the game.

The first boss will die from a single hit, but the rest won't be so easy.

To complete each level, you'll need a special key, which can be found locked in a sarcophagus. The key can always be found in a special room either on the right or the left side. Once you complete each level, you'll have to face a boss fight:

Boss enemies

Level 1:

Boss - dies from a single hit.

Level 2:

Boss - attack directly with his sack. Your best option will be to attack and then dodge by jumping back.

Level 3:

Boss - a very fast monster, which moves along a pentagram and summons numerous skeletons. Avoid the lines of the pentagram, as the boss will instantly kill you as he moves. A good tactic is to wait for the boss to stop and land a few blows before he begins moving again. You have to kill him quickly; otherwise the skeletons will overwhelm you.

Level 4:

Boss - a skeleton with a giant mace. He's slow, but he can dodge in addition to attacking.

Level 5:

Boss - great slime. Very fast, attacks at close range. Once it's killed it will split into three smaller ones, which also split into three upon being defeated, and so on, so kill them off thoroughly. Remember to keep moving.

Level 6:

Boss - a flying wizard surrounded by ghosts. A very mobile spellcaster, who'll shoot fireballs at you. Keep moving to avoid his spells. Ignore the ghosts and go straight for the wizard. Try to chase him down and attack, but strike only after you've made sure that he's out of spells.

Level 7:

Boss - the same monster as in level 1, only stronger. He leaves a trail of blood, which can damage you if you step on it. Additionally, he can shoot firebolts from time to time. You have be aware of your surroundings and don't let yourself be cornered.

Level 8:

Boss - a fast monk. The arena for this fight is bigger then usual and full of common mobs. The monk will chase after you and throw knives at you, three at a time. Choose a moment to jump on him (preferably just after he's thrown the knives) to damage him. Additionally, you can lead him into lava streams, which will damage him every time he crosses them.

Level 9:

When you're walking the long corridor, you can jump left at one moment, right into the room with skulls. If you've found and written down all the fragments of the cipher, you can now destroy the skulls as suggested by the duck to unlock a secret key. It will enable you to stop the blood flowing from the boddy of the great cat, which will unlock the secret ending after the boss fight.

Final Boss - it's a great cat that attacks with a sword. He'll execute a thrust and then retreat. A good way to defeat it is to attack and the jump back. Having mastered this method, the enemy will have nothing more to surprise your.

The game features many types of enemies. Most of them are slow and can be easily avoided.

Large slime - slow, but splits into three small, very fast slimes upon death.

Small slime - appears after you kill a large slime, but you can also encounter it solo. They are very fast and it's best to eliminate them by attacking and then jumping back, especially if you're fighting a larger group.

Brown and blue ducks - the most common mob. Nothing special about it.

Skeleton - it will lose its head after the first hit, and needs to be struck a second time to die. There are several variants that have different amounts of HP.

Ghost - can fly through items and obstacles.

Red duck - very fast and needs to be hit two times before it dies. Often appears in groups and always leaves extra lives upon death. Typically, they guard the door leading to the boss arena on each level.

Wizard - casts fireballs. Avoid them and attack. The fireballs can damage other enemies. There are several variants that have different amounts of HP.

Monk - can move quickly in straight lines, similarly to your character. He can also throw knives.
