Hogwarts Legacy 2023's Best-seller, Accomplished Something First Time Since 2008

Despite not being nominated in the last edition of The Game Awards, Hogwarts Legacy from Avalanche Software studio managed to outplay the organizers of this renowned event by becoming the top-selling game in 2023.
Hogwarts Legacy, the best-selling game of 2023
Mat Piscatella, of the Circana agency, shared information about game sales on the X platform from last year. Hogwarts Legacy achieved something that no other title had achieved in sixteen years (the last time Rock Band did it in 2008). The game from the world of the famous wizard surpassed games from the Call of Duty series and those released by the Rockstar Games studio, which have alternately held the top spot on the list of best-selling titles in the United States in recent years.
Hogwarts Legacy was released in February, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III in November, so players had much more time to purchase the first title. On the other hand, Rockstar is getting ready for 2025, with plans to launch GTA VI.

Hogwarts Legacy dominates on PS5, not as good on other consoles
We also found out from Circana's report that the magical adventure was most commonly bought for PlayStation 5. Only Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III surpassed the game in the case of Xbox Series X and S consoles, while four exclusive titles of the Japanese giant, led by the latest Zelda, were more commonly distributed in the case of Nintendo Switch.
Let's remind that Hogwarts Legacy launched on February 10th for PC, PS5, and XSX/S. The game arrived on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in May. In November, Nintendo Switch owners could also enjoy Hogwarts.
Spending on games in 2023 rose by 1% compared to the previous year, which is an interesting fact worth mentioning. The sale of digital versions of games also increased by 13%.
