Stalker 2 is not the greatest technological achievement of the year. However, the game received two updates last weekend, which fixed more than 650 bugs. Unfortunately, it seems that it didn't solve all problems. Some players report that, after the patch 1.01, title crashes in random moments. Also, there are still many annoying issues. Especially those causing the mysterious disappearance of Guide and Richter from Yaniv Station.

Stalker 2 – Richter and Guide in Yaniv Station Bug Explained

Yaniv Station is a location well known to Stalker fans. In Call of Pripyat, it was the main hub in Jupiter region. It served as the local base not only for Loners, but also for two factions – Freedom and Duty. In Stalker 2 this place is the headquarters of Degtyarev's Corps. In both mentioned games, Yaniv is the place that provides a pass to Pripyat.

In Stalker 2, information about how to enter the abandoned city, players get during the quest The Boundary. One of the steps in this mission is to defeat Monolith soldiers that attack the station. This fight causes many problems.

After the fight, the Guide (Garik), can despawn completely. In that case, he will disappear from the map, but his marker is still visible. Alternatively, you can also find him dead. It is possible that he is killable and his death is not a bug, but just a combat outcome. With the poor technical state of the game, it is hard to say.

It seems that Richter can die in that sequence, too. Sometimes, this NPC is still alive, but for some reason, you can’t talk to him. Unfortunately, he is essential to progress the story. So, this bug blocks progress.

In the previous Stalker games, even essential NPCs can die. A good example is the Guide, who has important information about Strelok's group in Shadow of Chernobyl. If he dies, you can pick up the PDA from his body, to get the data.

Right now, there is no solution to these problems. When Richter or Guide despawn (or die) in Yaniv Station, you can load older saves and try to fight with Monolith again. Alternatively, if both characters are alive, you can also try restarting the game. However, there is no guarantee that it will work. Some players use console too, but with mixed luck. It seems that we have to wait for more patches in the future.
