Xbox Scarlett Will Support Xbox One Controllers
James Shields confirmed the information about the compatibility of Xbox Scarlett with current generation controllers. This means that if you have any gamepad that works with Xbox One, you won't be forced to buy another one when you switch to the next-gen console.
Like Microsoft's current console, its successor, Xbox Scarlett, is expected to offer backward compatibility, which means its users will be able to launch titles that were originally intended for Xbox One. What's more, it turns out that compatibility will include not only games, but also controllers and other additional accessories. James Shields, Product Marketing Manager in the Xbox accessories section, confirmed this on Twitter.
The information saw the light of day just after this year's E3 fair, when the Xbox brand boss Phil Spencer revealed a few new interesting facts about the next Microsoft console.
"Another thing that will be a little bit new for us is the fact that we want to also respect the compatibility of the controllers that you already have. This generation, we came out with the Elite controller, we've done work on controllers and people have invested in personalized controllers, the things that they love and we want to make those compatible with future generations of our console as well."
This means that if you have any gamepad that works with Xbox One, it will also be compatible with Xbox Scarlett. This will save you some money and you will be able to spend it, for example, on a new game.
