New Xbox App Feature on PC Will Make Life Easier for Game Pass Subscribers
The Xbox app for Windows PC will soon get a useful feature - a performance indicator. This is the most important, but not the only new feature that will appear in the June update.
- The June update for the Xbox app introduces, among other things, a performance indicator that will tell us if a game runs well on similar computers.
- The update should be rolling out soon.
In an article on Xbox Wire Microsoft showed off the content of its upcoming Xbox app update for Windows PC. The biggest new feature is Game Performance Fit Indicator, but there are also improvements to the interface, collections and search.
The Game Performance Indicator is coming to the Xbox app on PC
When you click on a game's cover art you'll see a tab with details and an "install" button, and just below that there is an icon that tells us if the title works well on other players' computers with specs similar to ours. This should enable us to know if a game will run smoothly on our computer even before downloading and installing it.
According to PC Gamer, Tila Nguyen from Xbox notes that performance metrics may not be available for every game at first. This is especially true for the latest titles, because it takes some time to collect enough data.
In addition, Microsoft's engineers have also taken care of interface improvements. First of all moving around the app is to be a bit easier thanks to a redesigned sidebar located on the left side of the window. We can find there not only the list of installed games, but also the download queue with appropriate notifications about when we can start the game.
There are a few other new features. The search function will get a few tweaks - results are supposed to be more precise and include games from EA Play and Ubisoft Connect. More collections will appear on the Start screen, including a dedicated section for titles you can play with friends and a collection of point-and-click adventure games.
The June update for the Xbox app for Windows PCs should launch soon. It is expected that, as usual the update process will take place in waves, and not everyone will see the new features at the same time.
