WoW's Night Elves May Finally Get Something They've Missed Since 2018
New leaks from World of Warcraft's test server suggest that the Night Elves will finally find atonement for past wrongs. However, it will not be a bloody revenge, but a new symbol of hope.
Ahead of Battle for Azeroth release, during the prepatch, the Horde invaded the lands of the Night Elves. As a result of the attack, Teldrassil burned down, resulting in the death of many lives. Finally, Alliance players and fans of the aforementioned race won't have to solely look at the burned stump. New leak from Dragonflight's test server reinforces the theory of a new beginning for the Kaldorei (via WoWHead).
The Night Elves' symbol of hope in the Embers of Neltharion
A found cutscene shows the creation of a tree, visually reminiscent of the familiar one in Ardenweald from the Shadowlands expansion. Alexstrasza's speech can also be heard:
"For soon, Azeroth will welcome from the dream a symbol of hope, and together, we shall protect it."
For now, it is unclear what the dragoness meant when she said that "we shall protect it." It could mean the red dragons or all the players. It could also have to do with a new side story quest. In early March of this year, the chief narrative designer of World of Warcraft Steve Danuser told us that additional threads will run parallel to the main storyline, which may be done in the case of the new tree.
- During the alpha testing of Dragonflight a huge area adjacent to the Ohn'ahran Plains was discovered.
- Immediately, theories arose that this could be the place for the new tree; at the same time attention was drawn to the words "new beginning".
- Both the currently shown video and the earlier dialogue and the location on the map combine to confirm this theory back from August 2022.
Also in Shadowlands Tyrande received a special seed that was created, among other things, from the souls of the Night Elves killed during the attack on Teldrassil, and then rescued by players from The Maw. Malfurion then left for Ardenweald so that Ysera could return to Azeroth. Perhaps it is the green dragoness, together with Alexstrasza, that will be responsible for the creation of a new tree, which is to become a symbol of hope.
Over the course of its history in Blizzard's games, the Night Elves have mostly been losing ground, and characters associated with the race have not been developed at all.. In the third expansion, Nordrassil and Ashenvale were attacked by Ragnaros and horde forces, and Darkshore was completely destroyed by the eponymous cataclysm. The burning of Teldrassil was the next step, and to this Blizzard added the sidetracking of Malfurion. May the new tree indeed be the opening of a new chapter.
