WoW: Shadowlands Pre-order Numbers Beat All Previous Expansions
Despite the delay, Shadowlands is currently Blizzard's biggest pre-orders sales hit. The latest financial report shows that after almost two decades, World of Warcraft is still alive and kicking.
Blizzard has reasons to be happy. Recent problems with the development of the latest expansion for World of Warcraft did not have a negative impact on the financial results. Moreover, the number of pre-orders on Shadowlands beats previous additions.
At a recently held finance meeting, Bobby Kotick announced that they have never received so many pre-orders for an upcoming expansion. However, no specific data was given. As noted by ScreenRant, the expansion was not even affected by a month-long release delay and the associated opportunity to get a refund. Moreover, the number of subscribers of the huge MMO has doubled since the launch of World of Warcraft Classic.
Blizzard's great financial results are unlikely to drive the company to abandon the MMO. In fact, as the list of games of the genre announced for 2020 shows, this is not a dying market segment.
The expansion will be available on November 23. Of course, unless there is a new delay.
