New Raid in WoW Provides (Un)expected Finale to Sylvanas' Saga
As part of Update 9.1, a new raid - Sanctum of Domination - has been added to World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. At its end, a clash with Sylvanas Windrunner awaits the players, concluding the heroine's saga. What fate has befallen her? Did the fan theories come true?
On June 30, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands received patch 9.1, which introduced many changes and innovations, including an area called Korthia, the "Reconnect" button, the ability to fly, fixes to existing game systems, and an additional raid - Sanctum of Domination. The Sanctum of Domination features 10 bosses, including the Banshee Queen Sylvanas Windrunner at the end of the challenge. The WoW community knew that this clash would conclude the heroine's saga and speculated about her future. And while the devs at Blizzard tried to suggest that Sylvanas is evil to the core, the most popular fan theory was that the rogue would face a chance to redeem her sins. Did that happen? Or did the heroine die? See for yourself.
For the record, I'd like to point out that the video below and the rest of this post contain spoilers. So if you plan to learn about Sylvanas' fate on your own, you've been warned.
It turned out that a large part of the community was right - Sylvanas finally understood that the Jailer, with whom she worked, is "the bad guy" and decided to turn against him. However, her intervention had no effect, but the heroine was not punished for her disobedience. What's more, she was rewarded for her service - half of the soul she had once lost.
In the final scene, Sylvanas does lose consciousness in the face of approaching enemies, but it doesn't seem that the rogue is about to die. Next updates and additions to World of Warcraft should bring the answer to the question whether she'll manage to completely redeem herself.
We'd also like to remind you that June 1 saw the release of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic - an expansion for WoW Classic, a game that recreates the original form of Blizzard's MMORPG. Interestingly, even before the free update in which the expansion was made available, one player had already hit experience level 60 with 60 characters.
