According to popular insider Jeff Grubb - Sony's exclusive title Wild has been canceled after 7 years of production. The team that worked on the game additionally admitted that Wild was fully completed.
Popular journalist and video game industry insider Jeff Grubb provided very interesting information about Wild in a recording for Giant Bomb. As Grubb explains in the video, Wild Sheep, the studio that spent 7 years working on the prehistoric MMO sandbox, canceled the project - even though the work was completed. Interestingly, the game was supposed to be exclusive to the PlayStation 5 console, and before that for the previous generation of Sony's devices.
Why was the project canceled despite its completion and the many years spent on production? The insider isn't entirely sure about that. However, he speculates that it has something to do with the departure of Michel Ancel fomr Wild Sheep, who was in charge of the title. In addition to Wild, Ancel also wrote and directed the Rayman series and the first installment of Beyond Good & Evil. Ancel announced his departure in September 2020, probably abandoning the project. The team that worked on Wild has said that they are no longer working on the title, however they have a lot of talented people and they can start something completely new.
For the first time Wild was shown at Gamescom in 2014. Another information about the game appeared only three years later in the form of a gameplay shot on Michel Ancel's official Instagram profile. Since then, it went off the radar until August 19, when a video featuring the insider appeared. The director also worked on Beyond Good & Evil 2, but the sequel to the iconic title is doing much better than Wild and is still in production.
