Warhammer Age of Sigmar RTS Fails to Meet Expectations, but Devs' Don't Give Up
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin failed to meet the developers' financial expectations. The game has mediocre ratings on Steam. However, the developers believe they can remedy this.
Released on November 17, 2023, RTS Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin passed without much notice. This is evidenced, for example, by the small number of reviews on Steam - in a little more than a week, players issued less than 1,000 of them. Positive reviews account for only 66% of this number.
As a result, the game's sales are not very impressive either. Its creators, studio Frontier Developments, released today a short document regarding their current financial situation, in which they clearly state that Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin has sold below expectations.
Exact numbers were not given, but the devs nevertheless believe that further development of the game and planned paid DLCs will make it gain in the eyes of players enough to meet the expectations. However, they did not address the rather high price of the game, amounting to $69.99.
It seems that the first step should be to eliminate the bugs that the Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin community is complaining about.
- In reviews on Steam, we can read that the game often crashes and units do not respond to commands.
- Complaints also concern the operation of servers, which leaves much to be desired.
- It should be added that these problems mainly concern the network mode - the campaign is generally praised, although it seems to be merely a tutorial introducing multiplayer gameplay.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is available for PC, PS5 and XSX/S. The reception in industry reviewers is quite similar to the way the game is perceived by the community. On Metacritic.com the PC version of the game has an average rating of 69 out of 100 (based on 16 notes).
