The Patch 13 for Warhammer 40K Darktide has brought a massive overhaul to the game, including the introduction of Skill Trees and how some weapons work. This made it necessary to revisit old builds. In this guide, we will look at the Veteran build and it’s Skill Tree.
Veteran Build in Warhammer 40K Darktide. Skill Tree for Patch 13
The recommended weapons for Veteran are still the Munitorum MK III Power Sword as the primary weapon and the Ius MK III Shredder Autopistol for the secondary weapon, despite the nerfs to the latter.
An ‘old-school’ build for Veteran, which capitalizes on ranged damage and quick sharpshooting, is still viable, and some skills have received a buff. This build starts from the leftmost branch of the Skill Tree.
- Take the Longshot passive and go into Volley Adapt next for faster reloading,
- Pick the Shredder Frag Grenade, which will be useful for dealing with groups of enemies surrounding you,
- After unlocking the Ranged Damage Boost cross over to the middle branch,
- From Health Boost go into Covering Fire,
- You can pick all the three small nodes down from Fire Team,
- Go into the leftmost branch again and unlock Executioner’s Stance and all the skills directly connected to it, as it will greatly increase your ranged damage (you can choose to go without Opening Salvo),
- It is useful to grab the Passive Tactical Awareness from the middle branch, as it will shorten the cooldown of your Combat Ability on Specialist Enemy kills, but you don’t need to go further down from it,
- Continue grabbing skills from the left branch, omitting abilities related to Stamina.
You can also start from the middle branch and go left after picking the Krak Grenade, which will allow you to deal more damage to armoured enemies. On the other hand, the Shredder Frag Grenade might be more practical after the update to spawn mechanics. It is because you are more likely to get surrounded, as enemies are no longer limited to spawning in front of you. However, the choice between these two skills depends on your favored playstyle.
