Original news (August 27, 9:06 p.m.)
It has been known for a while that Saber Interactive studio won't immediately abandon Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 after its official premiere (which isn't a big surprise, given that the game will offer an extensive multiplayer mode). The title is expected to regularly receive smaller patches and seasonal updates introducing new content, which may keep the players' attention for longer. Developers have released a detailed development plan for Space Marine 2 for the first year.
Every few months, fans of the game receive major updates, which are linked to new competition seasons. They will introduce, for free, new mechanics to Space Marine 2. However, during the seasons, it will be possible to optionally acquire a pass (accessible to those who have pre-ordered the Gold or Ultra Editions of the game), containing sets of cosmetic items - overall, the devs emphasize a great deal on customizing the character's appearance. Paid DLC won't affect the gameplay and will also be available for purchase separately.
- During the first week after the premiere, the devs will pay attention to the fans' opinions and release small patches to improve the game based on their feedback.
- The first season of the competition will be released between October and the end of this year. It will introduce a new map, enemy type, higher difficulty level, and weapons.
- Subsequent seasons are set to add, among other things, fresh missions for PvP mode, arenas, or horde mode. They will also include thematic, paid cosmetic packs.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be released on September 9 on PS5, XSX/S, and PC.
