Warhammer 3 Immortal Empires - Easiest Faction to Play (Ranked)
If you are wondering which faction to choose in Total War Warhammer 3 Immortal Empires, then read our guide. We present our tier list of the best factions for beginners ranked.
The Immortal Empires campaign for Total War: Warhammer 3 is finally available and the third installment of Warhammer returns to grace. The huge world that merges the maps of all three parts of the trilogy isn't just a reason to be happy – it's also a reason to buy a new CPU cooler. Nevertheless, the map is so large and the factions so numerous that we can spend hours on the faction and lord selection screen itself. So, we decided to help you choose the best factions to start the game with, and the best Legendary Lord to will lead your armies into battle.
Of course, you should play Total War: Warhammer 3 the way you like – experiment, try, check or just play with the faction you like best. There are so many of them that literally everyone should find something for themselves, because there are 23 factions, and considering that many of these have several lords to choose from... you have as many as 86 different choices. Also remember that each of the factions – indeed, each lord in a faction! – uses different mechanics, different goals and they play differently. Some are great in offensive (e.g. Khorne's Valkia the Blody; requires DLC: Champions of Chaos), while others gain momentum over time.
How do I unlock the Immortal Empires campaign in Total War Warhammer 3?
To unlock the Immortal Empires campaign in Total War Warhammer 3, you just need to buy all three Total War Warhammer games: 1, 2 + 3. You don't need to own all of the DLCs. You also don't need to install all the installments – just install Total War Warhammer 3 and the Immortal Empires campaign will become available.
However, there are factions that are easier to play for a variety of reasons, mainly their geopolitical setting. A mountain range can be the best defense sheltering you from enemy raids. Population density is also important – if you have a lot of other, even neutral settlements around you, you will have less room for "peaceful" expansion and you will get involved in wars sooner. So, if you're starting your adventure with Immortal Empires in Total War: Warhammer 3, we have compiled a list of the best, or simply the easiest, factions to start your adventure with.
Best beginner factions in Immortal Empires Total War Warhammer 3 Tier List:
- 5. Skarsnik, Greenskins
- 4. Ikit Claw, Skavens
- 3. Nakai The Wanderer, Lizardmen
- 2. Helman Ghorts, Vampire Counts
- 1. Azazel, Warriors of Chaos
- Which faction NOT TO CHOOSE at the beginning?
5. Skarsnik, Greenskins
Skarsnik, Greenskins - A good choice if you want to literally flood your opponents with your armies.Total War: Warhammer 3 created by Creative Assembly
Starting location: Mount Gunbad
DLC Required: The King & The Warlord DLC
Skarsnik has always been powerful, but now, with a new starting position, it's just OP. Skarsnik's problem in Total War Warhhamer 2 was the eternal lack of money – but in Immortal Empires you have access to rich provinces, which, if you quickly conquer and launch your economy, you will ensure a stable supply of considerable amounts of money. And big money means big, high-tier armies. Thanks to the mechanics of Waaagh! – crucial for all greenskins, orcs and goblins – you can have 3 or even 4 armies before the end of the 10th turn, and at such an early level, it is simply an overwhelming advantage. Playing with Skarsnik is therefore simply about flooding enemies with green armies – they may be able to repel one unit, but not three.
4. Ikit Claw, Skavens
Ikit Claw, Skavens - Simple victory conditions for a short campaign. You don't have much time, choose Skaven.Total War: Warhammer 3 created by Creative Assembly
Starting location: Skavenblight
DLC Required: The Prophet & Warlock DLC
We consider Skaven and Ikit Claw to be "easy" campaign factions due to the geographical arrangement and, above all, the conditions for the victory of a short campaign. To complete it, you have to destroy three factions: Estalia, Tilea and Carcassonne. All three factions are located close to your starting location, so all you need to do is build your army and attack the surrounding cities as quickly as possible. Take into account that other factions have their wars as well, so it's very possible that someone will help you destroy some of these factions. But be careful – to the south of you, across the sea, lies the city of Sartos, the legendary Lord Araness Saltspite – if you're planning a long campaign, you must keep this in mind because Araness is rather a powerful foe.
3. Nakai The Wanderer, Lizardmen
Nakai The Wanderer, Lizardmen - You don't need to remember the economics at all - just focus on the war.Total War: Warhammer 3 created by Creative Assembly
Starting location: Tower of Ashung
DLC Required: The Hunter & The Beast DLC
In Immortal Empires in Warhammer 3, Nakai starts in the South of Cathay with quite a powerful army (tier 3 lizardmen). Your first task will be to conquer the nearby city, and then you will focus mainly on fighting the Grand Cathay factions. What makes Lizardmen and Nakai The Wanderer such a good choice (if, of course, you like oversized crocodiles) is money. If you play your campaigns right, you'll have so many of them that you won't be able to spend all of that cash. One of the unique mechanics for Nakai also helps you in conquests: each city you conquer is populated by your vassals – more vassals and cities mean more rewards (and we don't have to worry too much about defending these cities, because vassals usually do well). The cities are expanded and populated by really strong garrisons – in other words, you can focus only on conquests and forget the whole aspect of micro-management of the game economy.
2. Helman Ghorts, Vampire Counts
Helman Ghorts, Vampire Counts - A very powerful legendary lord who attacks with the help of zombies.Total War: Warhammer 3 created by Creative Assembly
Starting location: The Haunted Forest
DLC Required: The Grim & The Grave DLC
Helman Ghorts from the Vampire Counts faction is a great choice mainly due to the power of their Lord – Helman Ghorts gathers zombie armies, which, thanks to appropriate technological choices and buffs (Helman has a perk giving +30 armor for zombies and Crypt Ghouls), can improved quite a lot. This kind of strong, big army still remains cheap, which has an impact on the economy of your gameplay. In other words, a bit like with the Skarsnik, you are able to flood your opponent with cheap cannon fodder, which in this case works quite well in combat.
1. Azazel, Warriors of Chaos
Azazel, Warriors of Chaos - Lord from the latest DLC. Interesting mechanics for seducing other factions. Powerful in battle.Total War: Warhammer 3 created by Creative Assembly
Starting location: The Tower of Khrakk
DLC Required: The Champions of Chaos DLC
Azazel is a lord added with the latest DLC to Total War: Warhammer 3 – in the campaign Immortal Empires he is doing more than great, and in addition, it provides one of the most interesting and atypical campaigns in the game. Azazel's unique mechanics is that, as a devoted servant of the god of debauchery and hedonism, Slaanesh, he has access to seduction and can drag enemies to his side. Suffice it to say that this demon has a +80 perk for diplomatic relations with Empire, Kislev, Cathay and Bretonnia – i.e. with humans. Now you know who your main prey will be. Vassalizing great kingdoms will give you great power.
Which faction NOT TO CHOOSE at the beginning?
It's definitely better to skip the high elves. While in Total War Warhammer 2 high elves and Tyrion's campaign were fun and relatively easy, in Immortal Empires they became much more difficult due to the location and greater level of aggression from both other elven and vampires sailing on the waters around us.
The campaigns of the Empire and Tzeentzch are also among the difficult campaigns. Kislev is also currently not among the easiest factions.
These are of course not all OP factions in Immortal Empires, but if you really can't pick your favorite one – and you don't feel confident in the game yet – then these factions should give you a big initial advantage and a chance to win your first campaign of Immortal Empires.
