Warframe: Plains of Eidolon expansion is out on PC

Warframe players on Steam can now begin exploration of the Plains of Eidolon, a new open-world region introduced to that free-to-play co-op shooter.

Digital Extremes (creators of Homefront, The Darkness II, Pariah) has released a major expansion for Warframe, their successful free-to-play co-op shooter that first launched in 2013. Warframe: Plains of Eidolon introduces a large portion of an open world, which is a nice change from the original game’s tunnel-like locations and space stations. Players get to explore an open area of nine square kilometers filled with enemy camps, mysterious-looking caves and new missions to complete as well as some side activities.

While traversing the eponymous Plains of Eidolon, however, players should remember that the region becomes much deadlier at night. During the 50-minute night enemies become stronger and bigger and this is also the time when the massive beasts Eidolons appear – hunting one of them down is going to take a team of players. Find out more about the content of the expansion on Steam.

For now, Warframe: Plains of Eidolon is only available on PC, but the add-on is promised to launch soon, before the end of the year.
