F2P Vampire: the Masquerade Quickly Lost Its Charm; Bloodhunt Development Ends
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt had a promising start, but the developers failed to sustain interest and have to end development of the game.
The success of the new game set in the World of Darkness did not last long. Developers of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt have ended support for their work after only a year. Thus, the title will also not receive a release for the Xbox Series X/S console.
As we read on the game's official website, Sharkmob failed to reach "critical mass", i.e. a sufficient number of players to be able to further develop the game. Therefore, it was decided to abandon further work on the title.
Bloodhunt's servers will remain active as long as there are users willing to play on them. The developer will also introduce a system that will enable the players to vote for "unlocking new things" so that the gameplay does not get boring (at least not too quickly).
In addition, on September 26, in-game transactions are to be blocked. The developers are working on making it easier for players to earn in-game currency, although they have not given details of these changes for now.
Unfortunately, news of the end of development of Bloodhunt can hardly be called a surprise. In recent months, at most more than a thousand players were playing daily (via SteamDB). True, this is a better result than, for example, in the case of Marvel's Avengers, which was de facto dropped only this year (almost three years after its release). Nevertheless, a thousand players is still not much for a battle royale game, especially one with a free-to-play model.
These same gamers clearly regret the fate that befell the title. However, in addition to praise, it is also possible to find comments on the problems that may have led to a decline in the game's popularity (via Twitter).
Internet users mention, among other things, bugs at launch, which may have discouraged some players from this - according to fans - promising game. More people, however, are paying attention to the limitation of the ranking mode to a single-player ladder only, which has been complained about since its debut.
