Vampire Survivors Will Get New Characters, Maps and Modes
We have learned about the development plans for Vampire Survivors. Version 1.0 is expected to offer many additional characters, maps and items.
Vampire Survivors turned out to be one of the most unexpected successes of Steam's Early Access this year. Its developers have just revealed what we can expect in the coming months.
Vampire Survivors roadmap
Compared the currently available early version, edition 1.0 of Vampire Survivors will offer:
- 9 additional characters.
- 5 new maps.
- 16 additional weapon types.
- 2 new power-ups.
- 4 additional relics.
- More Achievements and Arcana cards.
- Unspecified new gameplay mechanics.
The success of the game meant that the developers were able to change the original, much more modest development plans. As a result planned content for the 1.0 release will be approximately twice as extensive as originally anticipated.
The devs also informed that for now we shouldn't expect a story mode. Instead, we'll get a new mechanic, most likely in the form of an endless mode, because it was decided that currently it's more useful for those playing Vampire Survivors.
Moreover, the developers assured that the work on transferring the game to the new engine is proceeding at a good pace and should be finished this summer. This caused some delays in adding new content, but when the process is completed, the developers will be able to develop the game much faster and improve it technically.
Thanks to the new engine the developers will also be able to finally release a good mobile edition of the project. Very early edition of Vampire Survivors was available in a few markets on Android, but it performed dismally, so the team focused on the PC release.
