Valve Warns Not to Play on Steam Deck During Heat Periods
One of Steam Deck's social media profiles posted a warning against overheating the device during hot weather.
The incoming heat wave is making things difficult not only people, but also the devices they use. And while desktop PCs are doing quite well in cooling their components, mobile hardware may have trouble doing so. A good example is the Steam Deck. Valve warns not to use the portable computer in hot weather.
As we can read on Twitter, the suggested temperature suitable for using Steam Deck is between 0-35 degrees Celsius. Given that in recent days the temperature in Europe happened to rise to over 40 degrees, gamers should avoid playing on the device outside.
In another message the company clarified that the maximum safe operating temperature of the device is 100 degrees. If it rises above this value, the hardware will begin to limit its performance to avoid damage. What should be noted, an overheated console can also pose a danger to the user.
