Valve Finally Fixes Team Fortress 2 Bug After 17 Years. Fans Will Have to Get Used to „New” Scout

A new patch for Team Fortress 2 has removed a visual bug that has been present in the game since its 2007 release.

Let's face it - the development of Team Fortress 2 in recent years (if you can even call it that) pales in comparison to typical live-service games. How eager Valve's shooter fans are for new things is clearly demonstrated by the hilariously over-the-top reaction to the fix for a bug present in TF2 since the premiere.

For context: the second Team Fortress offers seven character classes, with no restrictions on teams (and their numbers... hence the mass invasions of spies or even spycrabs on public servers and so-called class wars). Of course, the game distinguishes members of both teams by color, mainly two colors (blue and red), but also by minor differences in shades.

However, a mistake caused one class on the blue side to be improperly dressed. Only now, 17 years after the premiere of TF 2 , Valve finally fixed… the color of Scout's pants. So far, the talkative / annoying (cross out as necessary) Bostonian on the "blue" side wore the same pants as his "red" counterpart. Fans knew about this for years, but only now has it been fixed in the PC version (the PS3 version allegedly did not have this defect).

Of course, it's trivial matter, especially in the context of numerous cosmetic items and texture replacements (although, to be fair, pants are not as popular as, say, hats or pets). Nevertheless, fans are half-jokingly, half-seriously excited about the "character design change" after 17 years (via X / Reddit). Some players are somewhat disoriented by the "new" color scheme and probably many people will not get used to this change anytime soon.

However, some internet users point out that Valve forgot about another "blue" scout - the mechanical one from the Mann vs Machine mode (and the cosmetic item that enable the players to take on his appearance), which still has "red" shorts. There are also no shortage of other visual errors. Perhaps they too will be fixed in the future. Heck, maybe even it won't take 17 more years.
