- Yesterday, Valorant received a update, marked as 2.04;
- Astra has joined the character roster;
- The update also makes changes to matchmaking and adds a new battle pass.
With the beginning of the month, Riot Games introduces new content to Valorant. There are a lot of changes in this update, and among them we can find the debut of the character Astra, innovations in matchmaking and a new battle pass for enthusiasts of skins and additional content.
New character - Astra
Astra, the Ghanaian heroine who specializes in controlling her surroundings with her space abilities , has joined the ranks of the agents available in the game.
Both the design of the character and her skills are based on the theme associated with space / gravity. Her skills include stunning and pulling enemies with cosmic energy, as well as the ability to limit the enemy's vision.
Changes in matchmaking
Changes have also affected the ranked matches, and more specifically - the system of granting ranks. After the update, players will have to play 1 ranked match to receive a visible rank. This applies to players who have already played ranked matches in Valorant Episode 2. Those who have not, will have to play 5 ranked matches.
Players who have previously earned the highest rank (Radiant) will have to prove if they are worthy of it, thanks to the increased entry threshold. As we can read in the official Riot Games note:
"If you were Radiant or Immortal rank you will keep your position on the leaderboard, but your Rank Rating(RR) will be reduced by 90% and all Radiant players will be bumped down to Immortal, because you will need to again prove that you are the best of the best in the new Act.
Achieving Radiant now requires both being in the top 500 players in your region, as well as having a minimum amount of RR."
In addition, Rank Rating is now intended to be more fair and relevant to a player's skill.
In addition to the above, the latest patch improves some aspects of gameplay, including communication between players, as well as fixes minor bugs and introduces a new battle pass, thanks to which we can gain experience and various cosmetic elements.
