Valheim Devs Plan New Realm; Looks Gloomy
The volcanic land of the dead, Ashlands, will be the next biome available in Valheim, but that's not all the developers from Iron Gate Studio are preparing.
After the debut of the Mistlands update and a short break, the creators of Valheim are already preparing another location. In a new post on Steam the Iron Gate Studios team briefly discussed the game's development plans, which include a new biome: Ashlands.
Mountains and wetlands added in previous updates are not friendly places, but the next area could prove to be even more challenging. Ashlands is to be a volcanic land of the dead, which will be roamed by truly hideous monsters.
At least that's the idea the developers have at the moment. The project is still in pre-production, so a lot can change before Ashlands is added (on the southern edge of the world of Valheim).
However, the developers want to be less secretive than they were during the development of Mistlands. In practice, this is expected to translate into showing more material from the work, such as concept arts from Ashlands posted on Steam.
Iron Gate also mentioned the novelties that should be coming to Valheim even before the debut of the new biome. The game will soon be released on Xbox Series X/S, enabling console owners to play together with PC gamers (yes, the game will support cross-play).
In addition, players can expect new quests and characters (as part of the so-called Hildira quest), an additional difficulty level and a greater variety of clothing. There are also plans to introduce more "accessibility" options to let more plazers enjoy Valheim.
