Survival Hit Valheim Sold 12 Million Copies
Embracer Group was finally able to boast some positive news. Sales of Valheim have exceeded 12 million copies.
Iron Gate has reasons to be pleased. Inspired by Scandinavian folklore, survival game Valheim has already sold more than 12 million copies.
The game was released in early access in February 2021. It quickly gained great popularity, selling 3 million copies in its first dozen weeks on the market. By April 2022, that number had risen to 10 million. In turn, in March of this year, the game arrived on Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles.
The game's sales results were revealed during an investor presentation held by the Embracer Group, which owns the publisher Coffee Stain. After crossing the 10 million copy threshold, the heads of these entities began to see Valheim as a great brand that can be developed even over the next decade.
The excellent sales results are all the more important news for Embracer, as the group is currently experiencing financial problems that have forced large staff reductions.
Valheim isn't the only hit the company offers. Embracer also boasted that sales of Deep Rock Galactic have exceeded 5.5 million copies. The game debuted in 2018 on PC, and last year finally saw releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. The decision to port the game to consoles was a good one, with sales of 2.2 million copies in 2022 alone.
