Valheim Patch Fixes Many Things but Breaks Farming
Yesterday's update for Valheim fixed a lot of minor bugs and a few frustrating issues, but it messed up farming to the point where many players are getting discouraged.
After launching in Early Access in February, Valheim quickly rose to peaks of popularity and currently has a player base of over six million users. It's not surprising that the developers want to release updates as soon as possible and constantly provide users with new content. Unfortunately, haste makes waste - the new patch numbered 0.148.6, in addition to introducing improvements and fixing many bugs, spoiled farming to such an extent that it became annoying.
So what is all the fuss about? After all, the work of a farmer without the use of high-tech equipment was quite tedious as it was. In Valheim, you won't be able to ride a tractor, as the most the game offers is using a cultivator to turn the soil before seeding. Until now, the aforementioned mechanic enabled us to literally spam agricultural tools. The developers recognized the problem in the speed of cultivation, among other things, and introduced a cooldown for the cultivator, hoe and hammer, equal to 500 milliseconds. In the case of the latter two gadgets, the pause between strokes isn't as noticeable, but when it comes to digging up patches, the activity can be downright tedious.
Although the update was released yesterday, Reddit claims that the developers have already been informed about the annoying problem. As user JageTV wrote, when he asked the developers about it, they admitted that they did not intend to spoil the use of the cultivator like this. According to them, the change they made was intended to have just the opposite effect and change planting to make it less annoying. Nevertheless, they are looking into the matter and we will probably get a fix soon. Although JageTV suggests that we shouldn't expect the lag to be completely eliminated, only reduced.
The specific changelog of version 0.148.6 does not contain many details or big improvements. Apart from minor bug fixes, such as the disappearance of equipment from the item rack, the capacity of the reinforced chest has been increased and the annoying problem of tombstones getting stuck when entering a sunken crypt has been fixed. Of course, these are only single changes, you can see the full list of fixes here.
