Valheim Updates Will Add New Land and Bosses

For over two weeks, players have been delighted with Valheim, the recently released early access survival game. In an interview for PC Gamer, the creators revealed more details about the future content of the game. Later this year, the game will get a new land and an improved building system, among other things.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • In an interview with PC Gamer, one of the creators of Valheim revealed details of future updates;
  • This year we can expect a new land with fresh content;
  • Additionally, the mechanics of building and sailing will be improved.

Recently, we informed about another success of Valheim, an independent survival game from Iron Gate - in less than two weeks the title sold more than 2 million copies (and this is the beginning of its Early Access period). Shortly after the release, the developers shared with fans their 2021 roadmap, which includes at least four major updates. Until now, however, we didn't know what exactly the developers had in mind.

Today, the secret has been revealed by Henrik Törnqvist of Iron Gate Studio, who, in an interview with PCGamer.com, described each of the upcoming updates. As the dev explains, Valheim will get improvements to the elements related to building and the entire mechanic of dealing with the house and sailing. New bosses and a whole new land will also be added.

Building a shelter is to give more room for our creativity

Hearth and Home

The first of Valheim's big updates called Hearth and Home will focus on improving the building mechanics. Players will get their hands on new components that can be used to create more complex structures. The developers intend to give more attention to the aspect of cooking meals and farming. At the moment, our shelter in Valheim remains almost exclusively a base. The new update has a chance to change it into a cozy dwelling.

Cult of the Wolf

In the case of the second announced update, the creators are less eager to share anything. We learned only that Cult of the Wolf will focus on exploration and combat. It is possible that we will get interactions with a new type of opponents.

Ships and the Sea

As the name suggests, the third update will add variety to the sea voyages. As Törnqvist revealed:

"We will bring in some ship customization and try to flesh out the ocean biome a bit more. Since it's not not as populated, I guess you could say, as the rest of the land biomes, so we want some more stuff to do out in the ocean."

Mistlands

In this update, a brand new land is to be introduced to the world of Valheim. As its name suggests, we will be dealing with the Mistylands. The land will hide a lot of novelties in the form of enemies, resources, as well as new bosses. We learned that ultimately there will be nine biomes in the game, each of which will have its own unique boss.

Currently, the developers are focusing on fixing the most pressing issues and bugs, we do not yet know the dates of the update's rollout. Törnqvist adds:

"The whole team is working on fixing all the bugs that come to light when you suddenly get a million people playing your game. We're five people, by the way, so we have quite a lot to do. But yeah, as soon as we feel ready, we will begin working on the updates outlined in the roadmap."
