Valheim Devs Want a Sequel; One Idea Already got Rejected
Valheim is Iron Gate Studio's first and, so far, only game. However, the Swedish developers are not idle, devising various concepts for its development. Among other things, interesting ideas for spin-offs are emerging.
Swedish studio Iron Gate is taking its first and so far only game very seriously. We are, of course, talking about Valheim, available in early access from February 2021. The creators of this survival game have a lot of ideas for expanding their portfolio and they are not hindered by limited human resources.
Interesting ideas
Robin Eyre, one of the authors of the warmly received game, said in an interview with GamesRadar, that he came up with an idea for a side-scrolling spin-off dedicated to Greydwarfs, creatures found in Valheim. The game suggested by Eyre would offer a very different story. Indeed, in the new project the player would control a Greydwarf. His goal would have been to fight the Vikings, whom we play in the studio's original game. Unfortunately, Iron Gate Studio's management rejected this interesting and fresh concept.
New concepts
However, the plans for the development of this universe do not end there. On the contrary, Iron Gate Studio is constantly exploring new ideas and concepts that could make Valheim a bigger brand. So in the near future we can expect the development of the existing storyline.
Further development of the game
At the same time, Jonathan Smars, one of Iron Gate's developers, told GamesRadar that the studio still does not intend to create paid DLCs for the exisiting game. This does not mean, of course, that the team will leave Valheim on its own. A few days ago, a sizable update was released in public testing, and that's not all that awaits us in the future.
