UBOAT Will Fulfill Fans' Biggest Wish; Devs Thank Modders
Submarine simulator UBOAT will soon get the feature that fans have been asking for for years.
Polish studio Deep Water has informed what attractions we can expect in the next update for UBOAT.
- The biggest news will be the addition of TDC, the feature that fans have been asking for the most. Under this acronym hides the Torpedo Data Computer, which is an electromechanical calculator that was responsible for calculating the gyroscopic deflection angle of torpedoes and several other attack parameters. The use of this device will be completely optional, so the devs could afford to strive for maximum realism when implementing it.
- The update will also make it so that we will no longer always get precise depth information on the map. We will only get such data near ports, as the Kriegsmarine had detailed maps of the areas around them. In other regions, on the other hand, we will have to deal with a considerable margin of uncertainty and rely on sonar, which, by the way, will be heavily improved in this update.
- The patch will also add a crew report log, as well as expand the diesel engine simulation (among other things, exhaust gas temperature will now be taken into account).
- In addition, the update is to introduce numerous improvements to the FPP mode.
The developers simultaneously thanked the creators of the TDC mod, whose work significantly helped in the implementation of the official version of this feature. They are also grateful to other fans, such as Stosstrupp, DECAFBAD and Melonir, who helped with various aspects of the update. They also mentioned Maciek Florek, who passed away in 2017, the author of the best network compendium on TDC, with whom they collaborated in the early stages of work.
Recall that UBOAT debuted on Steam Early Access on April 30, 2019. Currently, the game is available exclusively on PC, but there are plans for a console release. The project has received a warm reception - on Steam it has 81% positive reviews.
