Gamedev companies have been frequent victims of hackers lately. The latest target of this type of attack was Ubisoft,

  1. Cybersecurity group VX-Underground reported that according to its information, Ubisoft's servers were hacked on December 20. The hackers allegedly gained access to data from services and systems such as Microsoft Teams, Confluence and MongoDB.
  2. The hackers attempted to steal a total of about 900 GB of files, including user data for Rainbow Six: Siege team, but they were detected before they could achieve their objective. However, it is unclear whether this means that they did not obtain anything, or whether they managed to download some of the data.
  3. Ubisoft itself does not confirm anything. The company only communicated that it is investigating reports of the attack.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time Ubisoft has been the target of such attacks. In 2020 hackers stole, among other things, the source code of Watch Dogs Legion.

Recall that the most famous case of this type in recent weeks was hacking of Insomniac Games servers, as a result of which, among other things, materials from an early version of Marvel's Wolverine, were stole and leaked to the web. In this case, the situation is further aggravated by the fact that confidential personal data of employees was also stolen.

Meanwhile, the most famous hacking action of recent years in the game industry was the hacking of Rockstar Games' servers, so it led to the leak of materials from Grand Theft Auto VI. In this case, the main hacker was recently sentenced to an indefinite stay in a secure hospital.
