Witcher Fans Guess Who's Working on New Installment

Who is developing the Witcher's Canis Majoris? We may find out soon, but for now, fans are trying to find out who the game's developer is themselves (and miss).

We don't know much about projects revealed this week by CD Projekt Group. Even the sequels to Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 remain a great unknown, not to mention the five other projects lined up by the Polish developer.

Of course, the lack of even general information never discourages players from speculating. For example, on the subject of who exactly is developing Project Canis Majoris, or the new open-world The Witcher.

As a reminder: CD Projekt Group did not name the studio responsible for this spin-off. However, it was confirmed that the project is in the hands of a team that was somehow connected to The Witcher series.

This wording has directed the attention of gamers primarily to former employees of CD Projekt RED, including Konrad Tomaszkiewicz (director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt) and the Rebel Wolves team. The Poles are working on a dark fantasy RPG, which is to be the first part of the "new saga". What could it be if not the new Witcher, or even a whole sub-cycle.

However, Rebel Wolves quickly dismissed these rumors. The studio is working on its own, completely new brand.

Theories pointing to Marcin Yefimov, the former executive producer at CD Projekt RED, were equally misguided. The creator parted ways with the studio last month to start a new team. No, he will not create the new The Witcher - Yefimov assured IGN editors that he is currently not affiliated with any new installment of the series.

The search can be continued, pointing to Can Explode Games (co-creators of The Witcher Adventure Game) or even the studios responsible for the mobile installments of the series. The question is, is there any point in guesswork without any decent clues? Especially since the full announcement of Project Canis Majoris is expected to appear "soon"..
