The Witcher 4 in first, 6-minute trailer. We met the main character
The showcase of the first, amazing trailer for The Witcher 4, the new game from CD Projekt Red studio, turned out to be the biggest surprise of The Game Awards 2024.
CD Projekt Red unexpectedly marked their presence at The Game Awards and, needless to say, they did it in the best possible way. The Polish studio reveled a 6-minute, detailed cinematic trailer for The Witcher 4. The game, which was officially announced in March 2022, will be released on the market before the end of 2027.
As thewitcher.com's description of the game reads:
The Witcher IV is a single-player, open-world RPG from CD PROJEKT RED. At the start of a new saga, players take on the role of Ciri, a professional monster slayer, and embark on a journey through a brutal dark-fantasy world. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, it aims to be the most immersive and ambitious open-world Witcher game to date.
The announcement of the title was preceded by many rumors and speculations, suggesting that the game will be a prequel and will present the story from Ciri's perspective. As we can see, they didn't miss the truth much. In the end, we know that the title will start a new trilogy, featuring the School of Lynx, and it will be developed using Unreal Engine 5, which CD Projekt is to improve together with Epic Games (and at the same time appreciate).
The Witcher 4, allegedly being developed with minimal influence from players, is said to push the boundaries of the RPG genre, be devoid of microtransactions, and developers have high hopes for it. The game, which has already entered the most intensive phase of development, is expected to be better and bigger than The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.
