Elden Ring: Nightreign is new look at FromSoftware's brand. This is survival action game focused on multiplayer
At The Game Awards 2024, FromSoftware studio announced the game Elden Ring: Nightreign. However, it is not necessarily the game the community expected.
I guess this is not what Elden Ring fans were expecting... During The Game Awards 2024, a game titled Elden Ring: Nightreign was announced. Is this a sequel? Or a second DLC? Nothing of the sort – we're dealing with a standalone, cooperative online survival game. Below you can watch the first trailer of the game.
At first glance, Elden Ring: Nightreign appears to be a project where the hit action RPG from FromSoftware studio meets PUBG. At the moment, we know that players will form 3-person teams to confront "new nightmares" and navigate "constantly changing maps," as well as defeat powerful bosses - this element of Hidetaki Miyazaki's games couldn't be missing here - on the way to the ultimate challenge, which will turn out to be Nightlord (Lord of the Night).
All of this somewhat "smells" like an extraction game. How will it be in practice, we will find out in 2025, when Elden Ring: Nightreign is about to appear.
We can only wonder how the fans of the universe will receive this announcement. On one hand, they may be bitter about the fact that we are not dealing with a full-fledged sequel or another soulslike. On the other hand, both the game's subtitle and the fact that we are supposed to face the Lord of the Night suggest that the game may add a few things to the rich lore of Elden Ring. Finally, there are mentions in the game of a divine Nox entity known as the Lord of Night. The name of the character from ER: Nightreign is spelled a bit differently, but it probably refers to the same person.
Looking ahead, we could even venture to suggest that we will receive a story that is an extension of one of the endings - Age of Stars. This suggests the fact that from the description of the Nox's armor we learn that "Now they live under a false night sky, in eternal anticipation of their liege. Of the coming age of the stars. And their Lord of Night."
