The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Sold Over 4 Million Copies in 2 Weeks
CD Projekt Red's co-founder Marcin Iwinski revealed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sold over 4 million copies in the two weeks following its release.
Marcin Iwinski, co-founder of CD Projekt, revealed in a press release that during the first two weeks since the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC the title has sold over 4 million copies. At the same time, he thanked all the players for their support and countless messages sent to CD Projekt RED. He also added:
„[The sales] are a sign that CD PROJEKT RED is moving in the right direction, and that it’s worth publishing free DLCs. [This also shows that] we shouldn’t forget for whom and why we’re making games.”
What this means is that the developers managed to create a game that not only has received great ratings, but has also met with an amazing commercial success from the very beginning. What’s more, it was revealed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt paid for itself on the first day of sales. Such an amazing result surprised even the authors themselves. "The sales of The Witcher 3 have totally exceeded our expectations”, said CEO Adam Kicinski. It seems that congratulations are in order for this excellent achievement. Now we have to brace ourselves in anticipation for the already announced add-ons – Heart of Stone, which is scheduled for release in October this year, and Blood and Wine, scheduled for the first quarter of 2016.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the third installment in the extremely popular RPG video game series. The first part was released only on PC in 2007. Four years later a sequel appeared which went to Xbox 360 a year after its PC release. The latest, third part debuted simultaneously on PC, PS4, and XOne on May 19 this year.
