In 2020, The Stranger TV series, which consisted of thirteen 10-minute episodes, debuted on Quibi, which lived for just seven months. Its action took place over the course of 12 hours, and it focused in on the story of an unassuming young woman (Maika Monroe) who experiences her worst nightmare when a mysterious passenger (Dane DeHaan) from the Hollywood Hills gets into her car.

Quibi was a platform whose productions were aimed at smartphone users. The shows were by design to have episodes no longer than 10 minutes, so that they could be watched at any spare moment, and were available in dual simultaneous aspect ratios, so they could be watched horizontally or vertically. Besides, Quibi's business model was based on returning all rights to the to the works to the creators after two years, so they could do whatever they wanted with them after that time.

As a result of this, Veena Sud was able to transform her series into a 97-minute film that provides viewers with a huge adrenaline rush almost from start to finish. And now, as of April 15, you can watch The Stranger movie on Hulu.

It's been four years since The Stranger TV series premiered on Quibi, so the creator, after regaining the rights, had two years to prepare a new version of her work, which has now unexpectedly made its way to streaming, where viewers can once again or for the first time get acquainted with the story. It is worth doing so, because Veena Sud has managed to create a gripping thriller that is hard to tear yourself away from.
