The Sims 4 Players Want More Customization Options
A post on Reddit was published, which discussed the number of complexion variants available in The Sims 4. According to the community, the title offers too few skin tones to choose from. There were also opinions that the same problem concerns are other elements that can be edited while playing - from hairstyles to furniture.
The Sims 4 is undoubtedly very popular. Only a week ago Electronic Arts boasted that 30 million people have at some point played the game. Such a large player base means that it is easy to find someone dissatisfied with some aspect of the game. Yesterday,a post was published on Reddit, which draws attention to the small number of available skin colors. This topic was quickly picked up by other users of the website, who pointed out the poor options for customizing sims and objects in the game.
The Sims 4 has introduced several innovations to character creation (e.g. the ability to customize every element of the character's silhouette and modify the gender features), but at the same time there have been some simplifications compared to The Sims 3. One of the things that has been removed is the source of the problem raised on Reddit. It is about free adjustment of colors and textures. Thanks to this solution, when creating a sim, the player could first choose the basic skin color, and then modify its shade with the slider. This option worked, however, not only in this particular case. Objects in the game could also be easily edited. A special menu was used for this purpose, enabling us to select the texture and color for a specific part of the object.
In The Sims 4, however, the solution known from The Sims 2 was restored. It enables us to choose only one option from the color pool prepared by the creators.
Interestingly, only two months ago, a petition addressed to EA appeared on change.org. Its authors ask to introduce more skin tones and a color wheel to edit things created by the devs. At this moment more than 74000 people have signed it.
Of course we can always use mods that will add new skin, hair and other objects to the game. However, it is still only an ersatz, as they only introduce additional predefined patterns by their creators. Additionally, console ports do not support mods.
So the question remains. Will the color wheel return to The Sims 4? Despite being 6 years old, the game is still supported, so it is possible that with some update this tool will be re-introduced.
