Until Dawn Devs Show Teaser for New Game; Full Trailer Available [UPDATED]

The creators of Until Dawn have announced The Quarry and presented its teaser. Tomorrow we will get the official trailer. The title is probably not in any way connected with The Dark Pictures Anthology series and may be action-oriented.

[UPDATE] The trailer of the new game by Supermassive Games, titled The Quarry, has just been released. The game's release is scheduled for June 10 this year. The title will be released on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One and PS4. The Quarry will be published by 2K Games.

The Quarry promises to be another game in the "interactive movies" genre and a spiritual successor to Until Dawn.

The Quarry Nine

In The Quarry we take control of nine teenagers, who are forced to survive the night at a summer camp in a desolate forest in upstate New York. Dangerous natives and deadly monsters lurk in the wilderness.

During the game we will make various choices, which will shape the life of each of the characters.
In the game we can find a co-op mode - enabling us to share our misery with seven other players online or locally.

In the latter, players pass the controller from hand to hand as the action jumps from character to character.

A cinematic experience

In The Quarry we will be able to adjust the difficulty of every aspect of the game. There will even be a movie mode, where you can put the controller down and grab some popcorn and watch The Quarry like a horror movie - characters will perform actions automatically, without our participation.

The game will offer no shortage of "hollywood" stars.

Kaitlyn is played by Brenda Song - known to younger generations from the The Suite Life on Deck - and Ryan will be played by Justice Smith who you may know from the movie Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, where he played the lead role.

More playthroughs

After the completion of The Quarry we will unlock a special mechanic of undoing death. At our next playthrough, when a character dies, we will be able to revoke the decision that led to it. We will get only three such replays per playthrough.

Supermassive Games - studio with credits including the successful Until Dawn - has announced its new game called The Quarry. The game's trailer will debut March 17. The teaser posted on Twitter reveals what we can expect tomorrow.

The Quarry

The words "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger," accompanied the teaser. The Quarry is supposed to be a "brand new" horror experience.

It appears that the game is not related in any way with The Dark Pictures Anthology series, to which the last three works of the developer belonged.
The publisher of the title will be 2K Games.

In English, the word "quarry" can mean both a quarry and a hunted game or person.

Job ads

On the developer's official website we see a job offer for the position of a combat systems designer. Its description mentions "real-time battles" from "third-person perspective". So it is possible that the action scenes in The Quarry won't be reduced to QTE sequences like in recent games from the studio.

In other job advertisements there also mention the Unreal Engine technology and multiplayer. However, they may refer to a completely different project.

The Devil in Me

Worth mentioning here is the upcoming The Devil in Me, which is to be the finale of the first season of The Dark Pictures Anthology. The game's release will take place this year. Its target platforms are PCs and Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
