The Night Agent was an unexpected hit on Netflix. The TV series appeared as if from nowhere and quickly conquered the streaming platform, drawing viewers into this ten-episode journey that would not end at all with one season. The platform quickly decided to create a season 2, as it was announced just days after the premiere of the season 1. This shows how much faith was placed in The Night Agent, which was a good choice, looking at how popular the TV series has become.

The premiere of season 2 of The Night Agent is fast approaching. It is scheduled to take place on January 23, 2025 on Netflix. Before it, it is worth recalling what happened in season 1, whose episode was released quite a while ago, on March 23, 2023.

What is worth remembering from season 1 of The Night Agent before the season 2 premiere?

Peter became a real night agent

Peter in season 1 of Netflix's hit TV show was an average FBI agent who was assigned a seemingly simple task: he was supposed to sit in the basement of the White House all night, waiting for calls from undercover spies to help them if they ran into trouble. That's how he comes across Rose, who is unaware that her aunt and uncle were agents. Peter, risking his career, along with Rose, becomes embroiled in a conspiracy involving the president, the White House chief of staff, the vice president, the vice president's daughter and many more.

At the end of the season, Peter and Rose not only manage to find her family's killers, but also discover the truth about the terrorist attack on the DC Metro that took place a year earlier. In addition, they save the president's life. In the final scenes of season 1, Peter boards the jet and when he opens the tablet, the caption “Night Action: Mission Brief” is revealed to him. This means that Peter has become a real Night Agent, and in the upcoming episodes we will see him in action again, this time officially.

What happened to Peter and Rose?

Peter's focus throughout season 1 was largely on ensuring the safety of Rose, who ended up with him by accident. The characters' relationship was one of the key elements of the TV series. Peter and Rose not only worked together to solve the conspiracy, but also grew close enough that by the end they are practically a couple.

Unfortunately, at the end of season 1, the couple went off in different directions. Rose, who has lost everything – her job, her family and, in a sense, Peter – has returned to California to build her life anew, while Peter sets out on a journey, wherever the new assignment for which he has been given the file is to carry him.

Was Peter's father really a traitor?

Peter's father was an FBI agent accused of treason, however, before he was convicted of the alleged crime, the man died and his life was shrouded in mystery that Peter was unable to solve on his own. However, he wanted to find out if his father really was a traitor. So he asked President Travers for a truth as part of the reward he was to receive from him for his heroism.

Peter wanted to believe in his father's innocence, however, he heard the truth from him – Peter Sutherland Sr. was a traitor. On the recording, on which the former FBI agent pleaded guilty, he told how in 2004 he was contacted by a foreign agent, from whom, despite the fact that he immediately aroused his suspicions, Peter Sr. accepted money for information. He thought he was giving him harmless information that would not do much damage, however, it ultimately led to a breach at the Pentagon.

Did the president survive?

Although it was close, Peter and Rose in cooperation with Secret Service agent Chelsea Arrington and the vice president's daughter, Maddie, stop the assassination plan. The presidential helicopter exploded, but without the president on board.

What happened to the vice president and Gordon Wick?

The scheming together Ashley Redfield and Gordon Wick survived in season 1 of The Night Agent. However, the VP faces harsh punishment for his crimes. As for Wick, he managed to escape. In case his plan failed, he prepared an escape route, which he used. Wick thus remains free.

The Night Agent season 1 showed that no one can really be trusted, neither relatives nor high-ranking officials – anyone can hide secrets that the world will not like. So it's worth going into season 2 with some caution about the new characters we'll meet in the upcoming episodes.
