The Lord of the Rings in Minecraft Show Minas Tirith in Ray Tracing
A well-known content creation group for Minecraft - Minecraft Middle-Earth - has recreated a famous location from the Lord of the Rings movie series. The creation displays the capabilities of ray tracing.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- Creators from the Minecraft Middle-Earth group recreated the city of Minas Tirith from The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in Minecraft;
- The work was created in collaboration with Nvidia and is a demonstration of the ray tracing technology.
Nvidia decided to show off the capabilities of ray tracing in Minecraft. A video published on YouTube presents the work of the creators from the Minecraft Middle-Earth group. They recreated one of the locations known from The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy - the capital of Gondor, the city of Minas Tirith. We must admit that the effect is electrifying.
It's worth noting the importance of ray tracing, after the toggling of which the visuals of good old Minecraft change beyond recognition. Thanks to real-time ray tracing, Minas Tirith gains a lot in realism and atmosphere. The 3D environment also seems to have a lot more depth.
The Minecraft Middle-Earth group has been around for over a decade, making it one of the longest-running content creator teams for Minecraft. The creators have numerous impressive projects to their credit (they've recreated Moria, Isengard, and Pelargir, among others), but the above one can safely be considered one of the best.
