The Last of Us TV Season 1 Episode Number Revealed

The announced HBO series based on the well-received story of Joel and Ellie is coming. This is interesting news for fans of The Last of Us, the post-apocalyptic game from Naughty Dog.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • The first season will consist of 10 episodes;
  • In the series we will see actors known from Game of Thrones or The Mandalorian;
  • The series was created by Craig Mazin, the man responsible for the well-received Chernobyl.

The upcoming first season of HBO's The Last of Us will consist of 10 episodes - this information was revealed by the series writer and producer Craig Mazin during an interview on the Scriptnotes podcast. Mazin is the creator of the well-received Chernobyl series, among others. Significantly, shooting has already begun on the series based on the bestselling game.

The episodes of the upcoming series will be one hour long each. Therefore, simple calculation indicates that we are waiting for about 10 hours of plot. As for now, it's not known what threads will be raised in the premiere season. It will probably be a story based on the events of the first part of The Last of Us from 2013. The premiere of the series will take place at the end of 2022 at the earliest.

Actors in The Last of Us series

On screen we'll meet several more or less famous actors. Joel will be played by Pedro Pascal (he starred in Game of Thrones, The Mandalorian and Narcos), and Ellie will be played by Bella Ramsey, a young actress who a few years ago played in Game of Thrones the role of young leader Lyanna Mormont.

Other familiar names from the cast of the upcoming series include Merle Dandridge, who reprises her role as the leader of the Fireflies (an anti-government organization that wants to create a vaccine for the infection that is destroying civilization in the universe), and Nico Parker, who plays Joel's daughter. The music for the series will be composed by Gustavo Santaolalla, who was responsible for the soundtrack of both parts of the original game.

So far The Last of Us TV looks interesting and it's definitely worth paying attention to. I'm curious to see how the story from the 2013 game will be presented and if Craig Mazin will expand on it in any way.
