The Glass movie receives unfavourable reviews
It looks like M. Night Shyamalan did not create a masterpiece. At least this is what critics say who have seen Glass - a continuation of Unbreakable and Split.
Only 36% of reviewers rated Glass positively on Rotten Tomatoes. Although critics' judgments do not always match those of ordinary viewers (just look at the Venom film, which was favorably judged by only 28% of critics, while the rate was as high as 84% among the audience), such a cool reception of Shyamalan's new work is certainly worrying. Especially as previous films from the series, Unbreakable and Split, had ratings of 69% and 76% on the same service.
Glass is the culmination of the Eastrail 177 trilogy. M. Night Shyamalan is the author, director and screenwriter of all parts. The series began in 2000 with the film Unbreakable. The movie told the story of David Dunn, a Philadelphia bodyguard (played by Bruce Willis), who was the only one of 131 passengers who survived the train crash and was recognized as a superhero by Elijah Price (played by Samuel L. Jackson), who suffered from innate bone fragility.
Fans had to wait 16 years for the second part of the trilogy. The film Split from 2016 told the story of Kevin (James McAvoy), a man of 23 personalities, who kidnaps three girls to sacrifice them to the "Beast" (of his twenty-fourth personality). Glass, which takes place right after Split's end, combines plots from two previous films - David Dunn, Elijah Price and Kevin – end up in one psychiatric hospital, where, as one can easily guess, everything gets out of control after their arrival.
