Remaster Experts Take on Forgotten Dark Shooter From the 2000s
The head of Nightdive has hinted that his company may prepare a remaster of the excellent action game The Darkness in the future.
All indications are that a remaster of The Darkness, an excellent 2007 first-person action game developed by Starbreeze, may be in the making.
- One of the game's fans stated on Twitter, that he is eager to replay The Darkness, but doesn't have the strength to pull out and boot up his old PS3. Therefore, he would like someone to remaster the game and release it on PC.
- These would only have been a random thought of a gamer, but the post was commented on by Stephen Kick, i.e. the president of Nightdive, who stated, that a remaster of The Darkness is on the list of projects his company wants to complete.
- Nightdive is a team that specializes in revamping old hits, so it would be an ideal candidate to prepare a remaster of The Darkness.
- It should be remembered, of course, that Stephen Kick's words are not the same as a game announcement. But they do show that Nightdive is at least considering it.
- A remaster would be especially welcome by PC gamers, as the first part of The Darkness never lived to see a PC version. Only the sequel came to PC in the form of The Darkness II, released in 2012. .
Finally, it is worth mentioning that this year so far has been exceptionally successful for Nightdive. In May, the team released the most ambitious project of its career in the form of a remake of System Shock. In turn, in July it released Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition, and in August - a a refreshed version of Quake II. During gamescom, the company also announced Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster and Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion Remastered.
