The best fan-made campaign for CoD4: Modern Warfare received a remaster
The Rooftops Remastered mod, an improved version of the best fan-made campaign for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, has been released.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has developed a decently-sized modding community, but it is almost entirely focused on multiplayer project. One of the rare excepotions is a modder called SPi. His most famous project is the Rooftops mini-campaign, originally released in 2016. Now the creator has returned to his magnum opus and developed a remaster.
The project is simply titled Rooftops Remastered and updates most aspects of this modification. First of all, SPi has practically developed new version all the scripts from scratch. As a result, the missions have become much more dynamic and better balanced. For example, the now infamous stealth sequence from the second mission finally became enjoyable instead of being annoying trial-and-error challenge. The author also improved the character and weapon models and developed a number of new cut-scenes.

In the campaign, we play the role of a British SAS soldier, whose squad stumbles upon Russian agents during a reconnaissance mission in Italy. The mod's action takes place in modern times, but Rooftops Remastered additionally adds two bonus missions set in the realities of World War II.
All in all, all these changes offered by Remasterd version are for the better, greatly improving the already very good mod. It’s important to note that the modification works only with the original version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and is not compatible with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.
It is worth mentioning that a few years ago SPi released a sequel to its campaign in the form of Rooftops 2. As of yet, it is unknown whether the developer has plans to also remaster this project.
