That's the end for Evolve – Turtle Rock ceasing further support
No more work will be put into Evolve, Turtle Rock Studios has informed the fans. The developers have been forced to cease further development on the title, which means no more updates, DLCs, or console versions of Evolve: Stage 2.
Bad news for Evolve fans, though apparently there aren’t many of you out there. Turtle Rock Studios have been forced to cease further support for their asymmetrical online shooter, of which they informed the players in this message (they made it clear that the decision was made by the publisher, 2K Games). Of course, the game will still be playable, but no more updates or DLCs are to be expected. This also means that Evolve: Stage 2 (as the free version was dubbed) will not be brought to consoles.
Despite their best efforts to revive the game – including changing its distribution format to free-to-play – the developers failed to lure back players, who have been drifting away from the title ever since it launched in early 2015. According to Steam Charts, there are currently fewer than a thousand people playing Evolve right now, with 24-hour peak at about 1,700.
The team at Turtle Rock wish to say goodbay to Evolve fans by hosting a livestream on October 27 at 12 PM Pacific Time at twitch.tv/evolvegame. But don’t worry, the studio is not calling it quits – they’re just moving on to another project, which we hope will be more successful.
