Terraria Devs Find it Hard to Stop Supporting It [UPDATE]
Despite the fact that Terraria has already turned 12 years old, Re-Logic's work does not lose popularity. The game's developer maintains that the platformer still „sells like hotcakes.”.
Andrew "Redigit" Spinks, the creator of Terraria, has abandoned Twitter, presumably due to the recent changes that have been introduced on this popular platform. Now his new "home" will be the Terraria Community Forum. Interestingly enough, Spinks wrote in his first post that we should "be on the lookout for new spoilers".. He is probably meaning the upcoming update 1.4.5, but perhaps he also has in mind the game's more distant future.
Terraria is a true phenomenon in the category of indie games. The small production by Re-Logic was released 12 years ago, and yet it still enjoys great popularity among the players. This was admitted by Andrew "Redigit" Spinks himself, who, when asked by a Twitter user whether the platformer had already reached its sales peak, replied that it it still has buyers. At the same time, he added that such great interest in the game makes it difficult to stop supporting it.
"After 12 years, the game is still selling like hotcakes. There is so much demand for it that it is difficult to move on," Redigit's tweet reads.
If anyone doubts the sincerity of Redigit's words, take a look at the charts of the game's popularity. From the data published on SteamDB we learn that Terraria is played almost every day by up to nearly 40 thousand users of Valve's platform.. Yesterday (i.e. June 30), on the other hand, the records was as many as 47,375 players.
These results are bound to be even higher when the developers release the long-awaited update to Terraria. Recall that the patch bearing the number 1.4.5 will introduce crossover with Dead Cells mentioned in a separate news. The update is supposed to be a kind of culmination of the game's development, but given the developer's statement above, it's possible that Re-Logic has not yet said its last word in terms of further support for the game.
It is also worth adding that there are rumors that the developers were working on the next installment of Terraria. Unfortunately, this information has not been officially confirmed. Recently, Redigit mentioned on Twitter that he has three different game ideas that he would like to implement.
So there is nothing left for us to do but to be patient and await official information.
