Take Two's Financial Report; GTA 5 Sold 145M Copies
We got to know Take-Two Interactive's financial results and updated sales figures for GTA 5, RDR 2 and the Civilization series, among others.
- GTA series: 345 million copies sold;
- GTA 5: 145 million;
- Red Dead Redemption series: 60 million;
- RDR2: 37 million.
Take-Two Interactive released a new financial report. Its most interesting element are, traditionally, the updated sales figures of individual games. Thanks to this we learned that Grand Theft Auto V has already sold over 145 million copies. Three months ago the company reported 140 million.
The total sales of the GTA series exceeded 345 million copies. Call of Duty remains the leader with 400 million, but it is worth noting that this number is distributed fairly evenly across the individual games, while in the case of Grand Theft Auto, the fifth part is definitely ahead of its predecessors. GTA 5's result will undoubtedly increase a lot this year, as there are plans for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S editions, as well as new content for GTA Online.
That's not the publisher's only hit. The company also boasted that Red Dead Redemption 2 has moved 37 million copies. Here the increase compared to three months ago was 1 million. The combined sales of the game and the first RDR exceeded 60 million copies.
The Outer Worlds, in turn, found more than 3 million buyers. During the conference it was confirmed that the publisher of all subsequent games from this IP will be Microsoft, which currently owns devs at Obsidian Entertainment.
Take-Two Interactive also announced the sales results of its other big series:
- NBA 2K: 111 million copies
- Borderlands: 70 million copies
- Civilization: 57 million copies
- BioShock: 37 million copies
Finally, it is worth mentioning the financial results featured in the report. In the past fiscal year, the period from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021, Take-Two Interactive's revenues increased by 9%, reaching $3.373 billion, of which as much as 87% came from digital sources. In turn, profit amounted to $588.9 million.
