System Shock 3 development will be led by the industry veterean Warren Spector
System Shock 3 development will be led by Warren Spector, a game industry veteran who had previously worked on such classics as System Shock, Deus Ex, and the Ultima series.
OtherSide Entertainment, the studio working on System Shock 3, announced on Facebook that their ranks will soon be joined by a real video game industry veteran. Warren Spector had lent his creative mind to production process of such classic titles as System Shock, Deus Ex, Thief: The Dark Project, and the Ultima series. He will also be the one to lead the development of the third System Shock. Spector commented on his new assignment:
“I’ve loved working with students as Director of the Denius-Sams Gaming Academy in the University of Texas’ Moody College of Communication. But when the opportunity to have a bigger role in bringing Underworld Ascendant to life, as well as playing in the System Shock universe once again, helping to bring these games to a 21st century audience, I just couldn’t say no. Working on System Shock was one of the most fulfilling things I’ve done in my career and it’s hard to describe how much I’m looking forward to sharing with players what SHODAN has been up to since the last game was released.”
Spector has a history with OtherSide. Not only has he been helping them as a Creative Advisor, but he had also worked with the studio’s founder Paul Neurath on the original Ultima Underworld games, Thief: The Dark Project, and System Shock.
In the meantime OtherSide is still working on Underworld Ascendant, a spiritual successor to the Ultima Underworld series.
