System Shock 2 Remaster Gameplay Trailer and Confirmation of Console Versions
System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition lived to see an atmospheric trailer and a bunch of screenshots. In addition, Nightdive Studios confirmed which consoles the described title will hit.
Nightdive Studios has released a new atmospheric gameplay trailer for System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition, a remastered version of the iconic 1999 immersive sim. Unfortunately, although it's been five years since the announcement of the game, we still haven't seen its release date. Nevertheless, developers have confirmed that in addition to PC, it will come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Interestingly, players who have purchased System Shock (that is, a remake of the first installment) on Steam and GOG.com, will receive their copy of System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition for free (via Gematsu). And when the remake of the first System Shock is mentioned, it's worth recalling that the game is also headed for consoles.
- Just like Nightdive Studios' previous work, System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition will be an immersive sim standing between FPS, survival horror and RPG. During the game, we will fight for survival aboard the modern space ship called Von Braun.
- Completing various tasks, during the gameplay we will traverse the ship's dark corridors and rooms, looking around for clues and useful equipment and eliminating enemies. Both mutated creatures and hostile machines will stand in our way.
- The title will enable us to play alone and in cooperative mode.
- Despite the fact that System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition is not a remake, but only a remaster, the game will be powered by the proprietary KEX Engine technology. Compared to the original, the described game is expected to stand out due to nicer cinematics, improved textures and enhanced character and weapon models.
