Strategy Game Surviving the Abyss Early Access Launch
Later today Paradox Interactive will release a new game in Steam early access. It's Surviving the Abyss - an economic strategy game with an unusual setting, set during the Cold War era.
A few days ago we wrote about the release of city builder Aquatico, the action of which is taking place at the bottom of the ocean. Today, Valve's early access store see the release a game with a similar premise, which will, however, bet on a greater challenge and Cold War vibes.
Surviving the Abyss - essential info
Surviving the Abyss is an economic strategy game with survival elements. Its action will take place in an alternative Cold War reality of 1976, when a fierce arms race is underway. As the manager of an underwater base located at the bottom of the ocean, we will attempt to develop and perfect human cloning technology in order to gain military superiority. At the same time, we will have to take care of basic resources such as oxygen, energy and food. An important element is to be the expansion of the research center with new infrastructure, including special lighting systems.
Paradox Interactive guarantees high quality?
The title will go on sale in early access. Surviving the Abyss' publisher is Paradox Interactive - a leading player in the strategy game market, known for such hits as Hearts of Iron IV, Victoria 3 or Europa Universalis IV. One can assume that an experienced developer - here in the role of publisher - knows what it is doing, deciding to distribute the game in this model.
The game is developed by Rocket Flair, which is simultaneously working on Dynasty of the Sands, a city builder with the action set in ancient Egypt. As of September 2022, the pace of work on this game has slowed down significantly, probably due to the studio's focus on Surviving the Abyss.
Surviving the Abyss will debut on Steam at 7 am PT. The game's launch price and individual editions have not yet been revealed.
