It seems that scammers want to take advantage of the inattention of Subnautica fans who are waiting for its sequel. The Unknown Worlds Entertainment studio has announced on X about fake links to playtests of the sequel, which are supposed to be sent to players on Steam.

The devs of the underwater survival game assured in their statement that they never send this type of links through the Valve company's platform. Therefore, any messages with suspicious links from users claiming to be representatives of Unknown Worlds should be ignored.

We've been made aware that fraudulent links to a Subnautica 2 playtest are being sent to our community on Steam. Please be aware that we will never contact anyone by Steam DM for any potential playtests.

The discussed issue was also raised on the series server on Discord. The person responsible for community contact conveyed that the only official link for test registrations is available exclusively there. The studio also gave two pieces of advice to players who managed to click on the link. Such users should change their password as soon as possible, and also consider enabling two-step verification.

Subnautica 2 is set to launch in early access on PC and Xbox Series X/S consoles in 2025. Unfortunately, we don't know exactly when this will happen. It's worth noting that the second installment will introduce a co-op mode for up to four people (single-player mode will also be possible).
