Subnautica Sequel in the Pipeline
Thanks to a job posting, we learned that Unknown Worlds is working on a new game set in the universe of Subnautica.
We have learned that Unknown Worlds is working on a new installment of Subnautica.
- Such conclusion can be drawn from fresh job advertisements. Such offers are traditionally a very good source of information about unannounced projects.
- The studio is looking for someone for the position of Senior Story Designer to work on "a new game set in the universe of Subnautica".
- For now, we don't know when the game will debut on the market, or even when it will be announced.
Recall that Subnautica debuted in early access in December 2014, and January 2018 saw the release of version 1.0. In addition to PC, the game also came to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch consoles.
The next step in the development of the brand became Subnautica: Below Zero, a standalone expansion, which was released in early access in 2019, and two years later we received the full release.
Subnautica continues to be very popular. At the hottest moment last week, the game was played on Steam by almost 4,000 concurrent users. This is an impressive result when we take into account the fact that the project offers only single player mode.
Moreover, on Steam 97% of user reviews from the last 30 days are positive, which is categorized as "overwhelmingly positive" reception. Thus, the next installment of the series will undoubtedly be met with great interest.
